Frisky Brisket

Hora of BUCOVINA.

Ukrainian: Буковина.

a Joc, slow Romanian circle dance.

From a region of Central Europe, currently divided between Romania and Ukraine, located on the northern slopes of the central Eastern Carpathian's, and the adjoining plains. This is the ancestral homeland of Tanya’s Ukrainian Maternal Grandmother, so obviously we had to learn this tune. In this version we successfully held ourselves back from the frenetic pace we easily slip into, still a little brisk for the traditional Romanian style.

This drawing was done by

Tanya’s mother, Shirley Gaines.

We have played it fast

and we have played it slow.

We like it both ways.
